How we use your personal information

The Society of Labour Lawyers is a think tank and affiliated socialist society which provides legal and policy advice to the Labour Party. We are open to Labour Party members who are also practicing or retired lawyers, law students or graduates, academics, and members of the judiciary.

There are two purposes of the Society, and these are the two reasons we hold your data.

Firstly, the Society is a community designed for Labour Lawyers to discuss policy. If you provide your personal information and give us permission, we will use your data to contact you with invitations to events (including at Labour Party conference), preferably by email at your place of business. You may opt-out of these emails by clicking ‘unsubscribe’ at the bottom of any email we send you. We organise policy discussions into sub-groups by practice area and region. If you indicate a preference for these by ticking one of the boxes below, we will target events in that area to you so you receive the most relevant information from us.

Secondly, if you are an experienced Lawyer with a particular expertise you could offer to Labour’s policy discussion, our Executive Committee would like to hear from you. If you indicate a particular expertise and consent to your data being passed to the Parliamentary Labour Party, we may use your data to contact you and share your data with the Parliamentary Labour Party for this purpose.

We will process your data in accordance with the above aims and the Labour Party’s Privacy Policy (www.societyoflabourlawyers.org.uk/privacy_policy).
